New CMMC Film: "The Titanic, Matt Tierney, and Marconi's "Marvelous Invention"

The film focuses on a Marconi Radio Operator, Matt Tierney, who was on duty at the Marconi radio station on Nantucket the night of the tragedy and his role in the historic events.

This video's premier will be on April 13th, plus it will be shown at CMMC on April 14th & 15th. (This video was written by Ed Fouhy who also wrote the Battle of the Atlantic video for CMMC in 2011. Local filmmaker Chris Seufert, of Mooncusser films, handled the video's technical work.)

TITANIC EXHIBIT

New for 2012: CMMC's Titanic exhibit allows the viewer to gain insight into how Marconi's wireless played a major role in saving lives during the disaster.

Titanic was equipped with the latest, most powerful wireless system afloat. A model of theTitanic in the exhibit shows the antenna configuration.

RADIO EVENT
The Cape Cod National Seashore and CMMC will cooperate in joint activities to commemorate the sinking of the Titanic. CMMC and the WCC Amateur Radio Association will be the "key" venue for this Radio Event. During the disaster, theTitanic transmitted wireless CQD & SOS messages to Marconi stations and ships at sea.

Ham Radio operators will operate "round the clock" from Thursday April 12th until Sunday evening April 15th in acknowledgment of this historic radio event.
