MUSEUM EDUCATOR

Position Overview

Chatham Marconi Maritime Center/ Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum seeks a dynamic MUSEUM EDUCATOR to develop and implement educational programs and activities that engage students and the community.

The Museum Educator will teach classroom STEM lessons and lead educational opportunities consistent with the museum’s focus on communication science and the history of the former Marconi-RCA Wireless Receiving Station. The station was once the busiest ship-to-shore station in the United States and a significant military installation during World War II. The successful candidate will engage students in learning experiences that connect the station’s history with today’s wireless world, enriching content knowledge and inspiring innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing and Developing Educational Programs:

    • Designing, coordinating, and delivering various innovative educational programs tailored to different age groups and audience types, including school groups, families, adults, and community organizations.

    • Collaboration: Working closely with other museum staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the successful delivery of educational programs and events.

  • TechSmart planning, scheduling and teaching

  • Museum field trip leadership

  • School-year educational events and programs for students and families

  • Website educational content creation

  • Summer program planning during school year

  • Summer program teaching (optional)

Qualifications

  • Relevant education and experience

  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for history and STEM education

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.

  • Ability to organize and implement instructional best practices

  • Experience developing and delivering educational programs

 

Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time school year position. Summer hours optional.

  • Competitive compensation commensurate with education and experience.
